An empowering process for those wanting to teach yoga in your community and world. Are you a current yoga teacher looking to master your skills, or a yoga student seeking to delve deeper in your practice? Our weeklong trainings are a great opportunity to capture these goals. This program composes the first part of 200hour teacher training.

The goal of this week is “Establishing power for yourself and others.” You will be introduced to the foundations of assisting/adjusting, and be exposed to understanding the anatomy of yoga postures and movement of the body. Discussions on the Yoga Sutras and philosophy of our flow will teach students about the depth and versatility of practicing yoga. You will also learn how to translate these timeless teachings into your current classroom experience. You will be introduced to leading a class by receiving voice coaching, and learning sequencing basics. A unique aspect of this training is the amount of time spent in practicing your teaching skills through live teaching sessions to your peers. Receive feedback throughout the program and grow.

This weeklong session is an inward journey that brings the focus to the internal by recognizing where we hold back, and where we can break through.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

Our program is a Yoga Alliance 200hr Registered Yoga School.

Each week of training consists of 100 hours including contact hours and assignments to complete after the program. Therefore, to complete our 200 hour training program, the trainee is to attend Phase I and Phase II. In order to attend Phase II, Phase I training must have been completed. However, trainees are able to attend Phase 1 only.

200 hour teacher training: In order to receive certification through Sid Yoga and graduation of our 200 hour Teacher Training program, post-training practicums and assignments are to be completed. These hours and experiences are for the trainee to practice what they learned during their training and apply them into practical settings. Once these post- program requirements are fulfilled and approved by the SYTT Board, the teacher will receive their certificate of completion.

 There are a number of great cafes and food options within walking distance from RDHY. We are located in the heart of downtown where there are
numerous local cafes and coffee shops. Restaurants include options for Sushi, Vietnamese, Mexican, Greek as well Canadian cuisine. The closest
grocery store is Superstore, located within 5 blocks from the studio.

Weather & Clothing

Septembers in Red Deer have average temperatures in the mid 60′s. Please review the weather forecast before attending your training sessions to know what to pack and wear. All training hours will be indoors. During program, plan to wear sportswear acceptable for practicing yoga (wicking material, no cotton) and bring layers to cover up during seated discussion or partner work. There are often 1-2 yoga asana practices throughout the day, so we recommend bringing at least two changes of yoga clothes.

RDHY is located right in between Calgary and Edmonton so either The Calgary international airport or the Edmonton International Airport. Getting to
Red Deer would require other transportation or a separate flight. Red Deer has a small airport where people can fly in from either major city, however  it is very expensive.

All training hours are held at Sid Yoga Center, in Towson, MD. Those participating in the training from out of the area are responsible to scheduling own flight and places to stay during training hours. All hours are required to attend. Sid Yoga will assist you in your travels by making local recommendations for your needs during your stay in Towson/Baltimore area. Trainees may bring their own food for lunch and dinner breaks. There are several health food stores and various places to eat in short walking distance from the studio.

What is Living The Dream: Living The Dream is an all day yoga immersion to help everyone involved discover their dream and bring it into reality.  During each immersion participant’s will be guided through a series of self study exercises and discover their dreams through a goal setting a workshop led by Lululemon Athletica.  Participants will also take part in two yoga classes to help bring their desires into their bodies.  Living your dream comes from opening up to what is possible and having the tools to put it into action.  This immersion will provide the tools and help everyone take the steps to putting it into action. At the end of the day one participant will walk away with a portion of the proceeds to begin to create their dream.

How Living The Dream came to be:  Sid began Living The Dream as a Collegiate Football Coach.  To further the dream he needed to find a way to heal his body from a fused ankle do to many sports injuries, and release his asthma he had from childhood.  Sid began to see that a dream was possible through yoga and healed in every way.  As a football coach be began to teach yoga to his football team and still knew there was more to it.  Over 20 years of coaching football, teaching yoga and inspiring others Sid found his way and doors began to fly open.  lululemon had come to the first “Living The Dream” in Nashville, TN.  Lululemon was made aware of Sid’s goal of traveling the world to spread peace, through their ambassador goal bomb program.  In January of 2014 lululemon helped Sid begin this dream.  This has resulted in the program today and Sid is on a mission to help everyone Live The Dream they desire.

 

For Whom: Living The Dream is for everyone!  Whether you are a yogi or a novice, it is for you, living your dream or opening up to what your dream is, it for you.  No matter who you are Living The Dream is for you!

Both are located within a 1/2 mile of the studio. The Holiday Inn in Timonium is 5 miles away (estimated travel time is 10 minutes). Embassy suites in Hunt Valley is a 12 minute drive. Sid Yoga does not have a group rate set up at a specific hotel, we find that our participants tend to prefer to make their own arrangements. At your request and consent, we will inform you of other out-of-town participants with whom you can contact and discuss sharing rooms.

Bhagavan Das is as rich and manifold as Existence itself

Bhagavan Das is one of the last living cultural icons of the 60′s. As Ram Das’s mentor (author of Be Here Now) he ushered in the New Age Spiritual Movement being the first Kirtan Artist in America. His groundbreaking album “Ah” (1971), produced by Jimi Hendrix’s manager Michael Jeffrey, was the first World Music album from Electric Ladyland. Bhagavan Das has also toured with Allen Ginsberg, opened for the Grateful Dead and sang with Bob Dylan.

Vedic Thai Massage-Assisted Yoga is traditionally performed on a large comfortable cotton futon floor mat which gives the receiver both comfort and full-body support. Working on the floor also allows the therapist to move freely around and above the client, making for effective use of the therapist’s bodyweight and mechanics. The therapist can also work with the receiver in a variety of positions, including prone, supine, side-lying, and seated.
In a Vedic Thai Massage-Assisted Yoga session you will wear loose-fitting or stretchy clothing that allows your body to move.No oils are needed. The techniques used work far beneath the surface of the body, effecting the deeper layers of the muscles and skeleton.
After the completion of this two-day Thai Yoga Bodywork course, participants will have the foundation for giving a classic 90-minute session. We will work in supine, prone, side-lying, and seated asanas. All participants will receive hands-on assistance, as well as a course manual to take home.

Learn: Beautiful sequences of exotic stretches and Thai Bodywork techniques, also known as assisted Yoga. There are a few hotels in town as well. Sid Yoga does not have a group rate set up at a specific hotel, we find that our participants tend to prefer to make their own arrangements. Phase II curriculum focus is on voice coaching, class sequencing, methodology, principles of teaching, business of yoga, establishing your power and authenticity as a teacher, and how to teach to all levels. During this week you will have several opportunities to teach live to your peers and program leaders, while receiving feedback full in growth. After completing Phase II, you will be ready to lead others and teach yoga to various levels.

Students will immerse more deeply into assisting techniques, and apply practical anatomy methods into the class room by understanding the differences within the body and how it relates to yoga. Philosophy will be discussed related to ancient yoga texts, and how these philosophical understandings can translate into classroom yoga teaching. The sequence training will be completed with mastering how to teach an inspiring all-levels class. As the theme of our trainings is “Live it to Give it”, we will use methods of Matrika yoga to recognize the reflections we carry, and empower ourselves to lead the change we wish to see.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

In this week you will complete hours 101-200 of your 200hour Teacher Training. Phase II is open to those who have completed Phase I Teacher Training with Sid Yoga, or have an approved background of yoga training. After successfully attending all hours of Phase II, there are program assignment to complete your 200 hour training with Sid Yoga:

  • Karma Yoga: Teaching Internship in the community
  • Video film yourself teaching & evaluation
  • Reflection papers

All of these program assignment can be completed before Phase II, or after Phase II. When you turn them in before depends on the preference of the trainee, yet all assignments must be complete within one year. Most trainees complete there assignments immediately. Detailed information on these assignment will be given at the conclusion of Phase I.  Once all hours and assignments are fulfilled, you will receive your certification with Sid Yoga, and are eligible to register as a Register Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.

The weather is typically mild in December on the Gulf Coast but can get chilly. Please review the weather forecast before attending your training sessions to know what to pack and wear. All training hours will be indoors. During program, plan to wear sportswear acceptable for practicing yoga (wicking material, no cotton) and bring layers to cover up during seated discussion or partner work. There are often 1-2 yoga asana practices throughout the day, so we recommend bringing at least two changes of yoga clothes.

Accommodations

We recommend staying in a condominium or beach house on the lagoon, bay or gulf while you are here. Vrbo.comkaiserrealty.com and meyerre.com are great booking sites to find the perfect home away from home for your stay. The studio is located in the heart of Gulf Shores so best areas to stay are in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. There are a few hotels in town as well. Sid Yoga does not have a group rate set up at a specific hotel, we find that our participants tend to prefer to make their own arrangements. At your request and consent, we will inform you of other out-of-town participants with whom you can contact and discuss sharing rooms, booking a group house.

Our program is a Yoga Alliance 200hr Registered Yoga School.

Phase II curriculum focus is on voice coaching, class sequencing, methodology, principles of teaching, business of yoga, establishing your power and authenticity as a teacher, and how to teach to all levels. During this week you will have several opportunities to teach live to your peers and program leaders, while receiving feedback full in growth. After completing Phase II, you will be ready to lead others and teach yoga to various levels.

Students will immerse more deeply into assisting techniques, and apply practical anatomy methods into the class room by understanding the differences within the body and how it relates to yoga. Philosophy will be discussed related to ancient yoga texts, and how these philosophical understandings can translate into classroom yoga teaching. The sequence training will be completed with mastering how to teach an inspiring all-levels class. As the theme of our trainings is “Live it to Give it”, we will use methods of Matrika yoga to recognize the reflections we carry, and empower ourselves to lead the change we wish to see.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

In this week you will complete hours 101-200 of your 200hour Teacher Training. Phase II is open to those who have completed Phase I Teacher Training with Sid Yoga, or have an approved background of yoga training. After successfully attending all hours of Phase II, there are program assignment to complete your 200 hour training with Sid Yoga:

  • Karma Yoga: Teaching Internship in the community
  • Video film yourself teaching & evaluation
  • Reflection papers

All of these program assignment can be completed before Phase II, or after Phase II. When you turn them in before depends on the preference of the trainee, yet all assignments must be complete within one year. Most trainees complete there assignments immediately. Detailed information on these assignment will be given at the conclusion of Phase I.  Once all hours and assignments are fulfilled, you will receive your certification with Sid Yoga, and are eligible to register as a Register Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.

Meters run 8am-10pm daily.  2-hour meter limit on Washington Ave; 4-hour meter limit on 2nd and 1st St.  Municipal Ramp C is one block away from the studio on the corner of 2nd Ave & 4th Street.  Bike and public bus access within walking distance.
Eateries and Groceries

Minneapolis, and specifically the North Loop neighborhood, have some of the best restaurants in the country!  Within walking distance are Haute Dish (Comfort Food), Bachelor Farmer (Nordic), Borough (American), Smack Shack (Seafood), Origami (Sushi), Saffron (Middle Eastern), 112 Eatery (Upscale Italian), Bar la Grassa (Upscale Italian), Freehouse (Brewery), Black Sheep (Pizza), Moose and Sadie’s (natural cafe), and JD Hoyts (Steak/American).  Whole Foods Market is diagonally across the street from the studio at 222 Hennepin Ave.

November in Minneapolis can be varied and unpredictable.  Average temperatures are between 26 and 45 degrees.  Snow and rain are both possible – as are bright blue skies!  Appropriate clothing for outside the studio include long pants, warm jackets, hats, gloves and rain gear!  During program, plan to wear sportswear acceptable for practicing yoga (wicking material, no cotton) and bring layers to cover up during seated discussion or partner work.  There are often 1-2 yoga asana practice throughout the day, so we recommend bringing at least two changes of yoga clothes.

The TownePlace Suites Minneapolis Downtown is walking distance to the studio and well suited for extended stays.  The Graves 601 Hotel and the Marriott City Center are also both nearby.
