Eateries and Groceries

There are a number of amazing restaurants and food options near Sid Yoga Center, right in the heart of Towson’s city. Zias Cafe, San Sushi Too/Thai One On, 7 West Bistro Grille, The Health Concern and Indian Cuisine are within walking distance and are highly recommended.  Traders Joes and Starbucks are also within walking distance. Towson has a Fresh Market (comparable to Whole Foods) and is only a 1/2 mile away.  Atwater’s cafe and MOM’s organic market are about a 5 minute drive.

Weather & Clothing

Early Fall in Maryland is warm and pleasant with average daily temperatures in the upper 70′s and lows in the mid 60′s. During program, plan to wear sportswear acceptable for practicing yoga (wicking material, no cotton) and bring layers to cover up during seated discussion or partner work. There are often 2-3 yoga asana practices throughout the day, so we recommend bringing at least two changes of yoga clothes.

Accommodations

The Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel and The Towson University Marriott Conference Hotel are two great nearby lodging options. Both are located within a 1/2 mile of the studio.  The Holiday Inn in Timonium is 5 miles away (estimated travel time is 10 minutes). Baptiste does not have a group rate set up at a specific hotel, we find that our participants tend to prefer to make their own arrangements.

Cancellation Protection

Travel Guard offers affordable trip protection plans that guard against an extensive list of reasons for cancelation.  Specifically, we recommend The Gold plan from Travel Guard which offers you protection against: trip cancelation, baggage loss or delay, medical expenses and other issues that could occur while you are away from home.  We are happy to put together a custom quote for you.  You may either call us or visit Travel Guard online.

This offer is available to those who are US and Canadian residents only, however if you reside outside of those countries we do recommend that you make arrangements for travel protection elsewhere

Hydration

You are responsible for maintaining a healthy level of hydration throughout the training.  Because you will be continuously sweating and losing fluids throughout asana practice, you should balance this by consistently taking in fluids.  In addition to your normal water intake, we strongly suggest that you also drink electrolyte replenishment fluid throughout each day.  The amount you will need will vary depending on your size and your activity level.  Please note that we do NOT provide Ultima or other powder; you are responsible for bringing a sufficient amount of electrolyte powder with you to maintain healthy hydration. 

What to Bring (may not be inclusive)

    • Journal and pen
    • Yoga Props: Mat, Strap, Block
    • Refillable water bottle
    • Ultima, Gatorade, or other electrolyte replenishment powder
    • Yoga clothes for 4 days
    • Bring a back pack or other bag to the program daily, including a few changes of clothing, lunch/snacks, and anything you’ll need for the day
    • Towels or Yogi Toes for asana practice

We all have an operating system and in many cases it has limited our connection to our infinite power. We have come into this mode of operation from the fear of losing love in some way. By learning how to shift our operating system we are able to see our world from a new perspective. As we land in this new perspective we are then able to live an amazing life from a deeper state of love.

Life Training is exactly that – a training for all people. Whether you are a brother, a sister, a mother, a father, a yogi, an athlete, a doctor, a clerk or any other label you may carry this is the space for you. A yoga practice is not required! Yoga is not involved in this Life Training, so please get your practice in before or after. This is a study group that will help you dive deep into yourself to uncover hidden layers holding you back from living the life you wish to lead. Life Training is lead by Sid McNairy. Sid is the owner, founder and operator of Sid Yoga Center in Towson, Maryland and the author of Walking with Love and Empowerment and Beyond. Through Ken’s 15 years of martial arts experience, he has creatively merged martial arts with yoga. It is time to teach and lift the world to a higher understanding of holding our space. Since ancient times, warriors of all cultures seek peace. In order to have peace, one must understand oneself and be fully confident in what one can accomplish. There are times where we need to stand our ground and protect our love, our land, our planet.

The intention of this workshop is to learn martial arts technique through the eyes of a yogi. Both practices seek unity through one’s mind, body, spirit, and breath. We will connect our breath to every move and keep it simple within. Learn how to position your hands and feet to deliver proper, simple, fast, and effective offensive and defensive techniques. We will experiment our rhythm, timing, and agility formlessly.

In the real world, it is not a matter what color belt you wear. Fighting is an art of simplicity.
