Adriana’s yoga practice began at the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. As a junior in high school, one very inspirational English teacher brought students to the Baptiste studio, and there was no looking back. That practice later led her to dance. Starting late, at the age of 18, she graduated from the Goucher Dance program with a concentration in Dance Therapy in conjunction with a degree in Psychology. Adriana continues to dance as a member of The Collective, a modern dance company based in Baltimore. She has also danced with Shmib Dance, Jane Franklin Dance, Liz Lerman Dance, and had a short stint in with the circus.
Ever since relocating to Baltimore for college, Adri had been seeking a yoga studio that reminded her of home. She was intrigued by Sid’s background and training with Baron Baptiste, and when she began teacher training at Lifeline she found much more. Lifeline has created a family for Adriana in Baltimore and a place to grow roots. The support and friendship that she has found at Lifeline have empowers her to foster peace and joy throughout her life. Through teaching she hopes to bring a smile to another’s face and to help every yogi open up to their fullest potential. Adriana hopes to spread love to all those she meets, “because when we love we always strive to become better than we are.”
Adriana’s favorite asana is bound half moon. We all yearn to achieve great things, but this pose reminds her that in order to reach higher she must come back to her foundation, to draw in closer to her center. By returning to center, Adriana can open her heart further to new opportunities and reach higher. It also reminds her to hold her heart higher than her head.
When not at the studio, Adriana can usually be found cuddling on the couch with her dog, Rosco. If not playing with the pup, she is often practicing handstands, turning her world upside down as often as possible. Adriana also finds other opportunities to invert, especially using aerial silks. Generally Adri likes to live, love and smile. She hopes to bring the joy and peace that she has found to others on the mat. See you there!
